Spring & Fall Brush Pick Up

Brush pickup will occur once in the Spring and once in the Fall only.  Brush must be put out no later than the last Monday in April for Spring pickup and the last Monday in October for Fall pickup, or after any storm deemed severe enough to cause large amounts of visible debris.


Monday Leaf Pick Up

Public Works will pick up leaves March through November (weather permitting) every Monday. Residents who wish to utilize this service may put their collected leaves into a compostable yard waste bags weighing no more than 30lbs at the curb. The Village will provide twelve (12) brown compostable yard waste bags to each household to be collected for leaf pickup. Compostable yard waste bags can be picked up at the Village Hall with proof of residency (i.e., water bill or driver’s license). Additional yard waste bags will be available for purchase at the Village Hall at a minimal cost.


During Monday pick up, we will also pick up small brush that is bundled, tied, and in lengths of no more than five feet.

Free to all Shelby Village Residents. Take Ferry East off State Street. Just east of Sessions, turn right after guardrail, before fire hydrant. Take the dirt road back to the drop off site.

This site is located at the west end of Pierce Rd. (off of 72nd Ave)

NO LEAVES, GRASS, TRASH OR LUMBER AT THIS LOCATION!

Snow Removal

The Shelby Department of Public Works (DPW) is in charge of clearing Village streets and Village parking lots. Keep in mind that large hills and major streets will always be the first cleared before minor streets, downtown parking lots, or sidewalks are cleared of snow.

Please note, per Village Ordinance 1020.03, it is the responsibility of the businesses and homeowners to keep sidewalks clear of obstructions, snow, ice, and nuisances.


The Oceana County Road Commission is responsible for clearing the major highways/roads running through Oceana County. The major highways/roads are Highway US-31, Shelby Road, and Oceana Drive North and South of the Village limits.
