The Village of Shelby staff and Water and Sanitation Committee recently received the results of a Water & Sewer Rate Study completed by the Michigan Rural Water Association. Their analysis shows that our current Sewer and Water Funds are in a vulnerable position when accounting for short-term and long-term ongoing operation, maintenance, and repair needs. Based on these findings, they are recommending a rate increase in the range of 10% to 30%, depending on the fund and source, which the Village Council will have before them for consideration in the month of February.
We invite all Shelby residents to learn more at a public presentation on January 29 at 6:30 PM. Location will be announced soon.
Your questions and participation are welcome as we work together to make informed, responsible decisions for our community’s infrastructure.
