Where will the pool be located?
The pool is planned for Getty Field, directly across the street from Getty Park, on the site currently used as a soccer field.
What happens to the soccer field?
A smaller-sized soccer field will be relocated to the area near the middle school parking lot, ensuring continued access for local teams and recreational play.
Where will people be able to play soccer?
A smaller-sized soccer field will remain available at the current soccer field location. Additionally, there are full-sized soccer fields open to the public at the Shelby Township Community Park and the Hart Complex.
How big will the pool be?
The final dimensions are still being determined, but it will be large enough to accommodate recreational swimming, swim lessons, and community events.
How will construction be funded?
Funding will come from a combination of:

Who will manage the pool?
Shelby Township will oversee operations and hire a dedicated pool manager to ensure smooth day-to-day management.
Will there be lifeguards?
Yes. State law requires certified lifeguards to be on duty during operating hours for safety.
Can the pool be rented for private events?
Absolutely! A designated rental space will be available for birthday parties, family gatherings, and other events.
When will the pool be open each year?
The pool will operate seasonally, from late May through early September.
Will our taxes go up because of the pool?
No. There will be no millage increase for the pool. If your property taxes increase in future years, it will be due to rising property values, not because of the pool project.
How will ongoing costs be covered (maintenance, staffing, etc.)?
Annual operating costs will be funded through usage fees paid by pool visitors.
