🚰 Water Safety Cross Connection Control Update 🚰

September 19th, 2025

The Village of Shelby is committed to providing safe, clean drinking water to our community. To protect our public water system from potential contamination, we are implementing a Cross-Connection Control Program in accordance with the Michigan Plumbing Code (Sections 608.6 & 608.13).

πŸ”’ What’s Changing? To comply with state regulations and enhance water safety, the program includes:

β€’ πŸ“¬ Postal notifications with instructions for water customers
β€’ πŸ“ Annual Test Reports for existing Backflow Preventers
β€’ 🏠 Potential on-site surveys to detect cross-connections
β€’ ⚠️ Corrective actions for non-compliant service connections

πŸ’§ To ensure expert service and cost-effective compliance, we’ve partnered with HydroCorp, a trusted provider with over 39 years of experience in water safety programs.

πŸ“… Inspection Schedule:

β€’ Every home: once every 5 years
β€’ Every business: once every 2 years

πŸ”— Learn more at WaterCustomer.com, HydroCorpinc.com, looking at the attached flyer, or by calling or visiting the Village office.

Hydrocorp will communicate with village residents directly and this inspection will be no cost to you as a property owner.

βœ… Your cooperation helps keep our water safe for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this important community effort!
