The Village of Shelby needs your help!
In the coming weeks, we will begin a community-wide inventory and health assessment of trees located on public property. Certified Arborists will be evaluating trees in public rights-of-way, parks, and other Village-owned spaces to better understand the health and condition of our community’s tree canopy.
Please note: No information will be collected from trees located on private property. This project focuses exclusively on publicly owned trees.
The information gathered will be used to develop a comprehensive 20-year Forestry Management Plan that will guide future tree planting, maintenance, preservation, and community forestry initiatives. The plan will help us maximize the many benefits trees provide while exploring new opportunities, including volunteer tree stewardship programs and other community-based efforts.
But we can’t build this plan without community input!
We want to hear your thoughts about Shelby’s trees, how they are currently managed, and what you’d like to see in the future. Whether you’re a homeowner, business owner, park user, or simply someone who enjoys our community spaces, your feedback is important.
