⚽️ Getty Field “Reset” Project Moving Forward! 🌱

September 18th, 2026

The Village of Shelby and Shelby Public Schools have officially partnered on the Getty Field “Reset” Project, a collaborative effort to address aging infrastructure, reduce maintenance needs, and preserve Getty Field as a valuable community soccer facility for years to come.

The project will remove several structures that have reached the end of their useful life or are no longer fully utilized, while improving and restoring the property.

Shelby Public Schools will oversee the removal of:

✅ Athletic field lights
✅ Scoreboard
✅ Tiger Building

Following removal, the Tiger Building site will be graded, covered with topsoil, and reseeded with grass.

The Village of Shelby will be responsible for:

✅ Demolishing the press box and concession stand
✅ Relocating the western fence line
✅ Installing approximately 525 feet of new fencing and a new access gate
✅ Restoring disturbed areas
✅ Capping water and sewer services where needed
✅ Preserving the irrigation system and converting controls to solar power

The project is expected to be completed by September 2027.

This project reflects the strong partnership between the Village and Shelby Public Schools and a shared commitment to investing in the future of our community – safe, well-maintained, and appealing. 🏡⚽
